With my years of experience, I have written for many different audiences and I am used to turning the complex and mundane into something of interest that is easy to understand.

I talk your language, understanding the public sector 'speak', as well as understanding the challenges faced in performance-based culture. I am skilled in both Plain English generally and Plain English from the web (trained by the Plain English Campaign).

I know tackling information-sharing for groups who have accessibility issues is a major challenge and I have used several tools or techniques to include and engage hard to reach groups.

Consultation is key to success in this area and I have first hand experience of organising public engagment events and focus groups.

What can I do for you?

Plain English – making your reports, leaflets, documents and promotional literature easy to read and understand.

Writing for the web - A skill in itself.  Making your information punchy, practical and easy to read on screen is important.  I can also help with content management, structure and accessibility of your site.

Proof reading – if you have written something yourself you may need it grammar checked, edited for plain English or you might simply need another pair of eyes to check for typos and spelling errors.

Letters and other documents – re-drafting letters and documents can often avoid confusion for your reader.  Making your documents easy to understand can save you time and money as you will avoid further enquiries if customers understand it first time.

Accessibility – A key issue for everyone these days.  Being trained by the Plain English Campaign in general copy writing, proof reading and now writing for the web, I can help you make your words easy to understand.

For those who can’t read English, have difficulty with words or just simply don’t want to read your information, I can help you find alternative methods to reach everyone you need to – with out just ticking boxes!
